Welcome to FXP Festival – a Cambridgeshire-based education initiative centred on the exciting world of game design and development, which aims to help young people (aged 12-19) to develop a range of capabilities and skills – from teamwork and communication, to coding, design, creative writing and storytelling.
We are pleased to announce a new format for FXP 2022, which includes a standalone virtual event as well as an in-person event, to increase accessibility for young people across the county. The virtual event will take place over a nine-week period between April and June 2022 and the live event will take place on 9 – 11 July 2022 which means that participants can choose whether to take part in one or both events.
FXP Festival was created in 2016 as a STEM initiative based on a computer and mobile game design and development competition. In 2020, FXP Festival officially became a registered UK charity.
Those familiar with FXP Festival will know it usually centres around a three-day games jam, where students work in teams to create an original computer game concept, or design and develop an original computer game.
Following the success of the virtual event in 2021, a new format has been introduced which means that participants will be able to take part in a virtual event, an in-person event or both.
Completely free to attend, each year FXP Festival has attracted teams with a wide range of interests and abilities – from those experienced in coding, to those more interested in the creative concept and artistry of game design.
